About the event

A new film by Keith Glassman '76. The screening will be Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 2:30 pm.

LIMITED SEATING - ADMISSION FREE - RSVP REQUIRED

A collaboration between the LGBTQ Center OC, the Frida Cinema and Keith Glassman Dance & Performance, join us for the screening of Lives Beyond Motion. This one-of-a-kind documentary reveals an in depth look at men in contemporary dance.

The movie will be followed by a Q&A with filmmakers and cast members moderated by former Artistic Director of The Wooden Floor and Juilliard alumna, Melanie Rios-Glaser.

Starting its film festival run in the near future, LIVES BEYOND MOTION is a love letter to every creative across the arts.

Filmmaker, modern dancer and choreographer, Keith Glassman '76, follows his passion to explore the lives of an intergenerational group of celebrated men who have made their mark on and off the stage. Some of our most treasured dancers and choreographers, including Kennedy Center honoree, BILL T. JONES, Alvin Ailey Associate Artistic Director, MATTHEW RUSHING, Guggenheim Fellow, LAR LUBOVITCH and MacArthur Genius, KYLE ABRAHAM, gift us a rare level of transparency and expressionism as they share their sacrifices, triumphs and struggles to transcend economic, racial and sexual marginalization.

From the park bench to the Broadway stage, LIVES BEYOND MOTION uncovers rare performances, the legacy of legendary artists and spotlights the uncompromising quest to find individual expression and joy in the art of movement.
